The office of the City Clerk has a long history steeped in tradition. When the early colonists came to America, one of the first offices established was that of clerk. The City Clerk’s office serves as a direct link between residents and the City of Orange. It is home to the City’s official archives and public records.
The City Clerk serves many responsibilities including the Secretary to the Municipal Council, Secretary to the Municipality, keeper of the City Seal, Chief Election Officer of the Municipality, Chief Registrar of Voters in the Municipality and the individual responsible for the Records Management of the City. However, these core duties reflect just a portion of the many responsibilities and activities of the City Clerk’s Office.
