General Election Tuesday, November 3, 2020 Amid the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Governor Murphy signed Executive Order No. 177 on August 14, 2020 to create a modified vote-by-mail (VBM) election for the November 3rd General Election.  The County Clerk will send VBM ballots with pre-paid postage to all active registered voters. Ballots can be returned via a secure drop box, the United States Postal Service (USPS), to the County Board of Elections or an Orange polling location on Election Day with valid identification. Due to the leadership of Essex County Government, the Essex County Correctional Facility Civilian Task Force was established in an effort to improve operations at Essex County Correctional Facility.
