Mayor Dwayne D. Warren, Esq
And The Orange Municipal Council
MOVING ORANGE FORWARD

City of Orange Township
Coronavirus / COVID-19

Action Plan

As Mayor of the City of Orange Township, I must do everything possible to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus and protect those who are most vulnerable. There is one case of Coronavirus in Orange so far; Due to strict Federal HIPAA laws, the patient’s information and identity are protected, but the individual is receiving medical attention.

In an effort to protect all member of our community and workforce, especially those who present the highest risk for complications of the COVID-19 virus, I made several decisions as Mayor to help prevent its spread.

  • I am announcing that the Orange Board of Education will be closed our of safety concerns due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
  • In coordination with Governor Phil Murphy, I am directing that residents should not leave their homes from 8:00p.m. to 5:00 a.m., as Governor Murphy announced the extraordinary action of recommending a statewide curfew to attempt to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
  • All casinos and gyms will be shut down at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16 and will remain closed until further notice. These businesses should not reopen until my administration gives the okay.
  • Restaurants and bars must close at 8:00 p.m. starting Monday March 16, 2020. Thereafter, restaurants can be open between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. but only for takeout and delivery – no seated service. Bars must close at 8:00 p.m.
  • I have assembled an emergency response team consisting of law enforcement and members of the Office of Emergency Management, in coordination with state and federal authorities. The team’s mission is to help minimize the spread of the virus in our City.

Information and updates will continue to be posted on the City website – www.ci.orange.nj.us – as well as other media platforms to keep you updated on this rapidly-changing situation.

I cannot underestimate the importance of social distancing in order to reduce the spread of the disease at this critical juncture, which will ultimately help save lives.
Remember, we are all in this together. Stay safe
