Preparing the Next Generation of Leadership

Mayor Warren Participates on Leadership Newark Ethics Panel
Orange, NJ –  Mayor Dwayne D. Warren, Esq. participated in a panel discussion convened by Leadership Newark regarding ethics in government. Mayor Warren stated, “Elected office is not a profession, elected office is a call to service”. He encouraged the Leadership Newark class of 2020 to develop a profession, “this will help eliminate ethical dilemmas that may occur”.

Freeholder Angela Garretson agreed with Mayor Warren, stating that “Leadership Newark provides the understanding of different dynamics through panels and education opportunities such as this forum”.

Celia M. King, MPS, Chief Executive Officer of Leadership Newark and former Vice Mayor of Maplewood stated, “This panel consist of Leadership Newark graduates who have risen in the ranks of politics, corporations and foundations which fulfills our mission of ensuring knowledgeable professionals are prepared to assume roles of leadership”.

The forum moderated by Maplewood Mayor Vic DeLuca highlighted other panel members such as, Union Mayor Michelle Delisfort and Plainfield Councilman Steve Hockaday. Students participated in the question and answer period following the panel presentation.
