Job Opportunity – Deputy Municipal Clerk
The City of Orange Township is seeking a full-time Deputy Municipal Clerk. Preferred applicants should possess the Registered Municipal Clerk Certification (RMC) or have begun pursuing such a designation as per N.J.S.A. 5:32-5.3. The Deputy Municipal Clerk will assist the Municipal Clerk in all duties and functions delegated to the Municipal Clerk by law, ordinance and or Municipal Council. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, a team player and a good problem solver with excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate must be able to demonstrate effective agenda preparation and governing body communication strategies, effective OPRA response strategies, custodial skills of all municipal corporation records, minutes, books, deeds, contracts among others, knowledge of managing elections, knowledge of ordinance and resolution preparation and advertisement requirements. Candidate will be required to attend Municipal Council meetings and have the ability to perform the duties of the Municipal Clerk in their absence. Candidate must have the ability to generate communications and reports as requested by Council and maintain committee rosters and schedules. Candidate must have financial management experience including but not limited to budget oversight and accounts payable. Candidate must have the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks; ability to deal with the public in a professional manner; ability to work cooperatively with elected officials, department heads and employees; and have strong customer service skills. Candidate will serve as the lead coordinator of the Municipal Council website; gather, coordinate, review and maintain the website contents. Candidate must possess excellent technology skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the ability to learn Agenda Management software.
