The City of Orange earns $1 Million grant for Elementary School Safety Improvement Program
Orange, NJ – The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) announced that the Transportation Alternatives and Safe Routes to School Program awarded a $1 Million grant to The City of Orange Township. The North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) 2018 Safe Routes to School Grant was awarded to Orange in recognition of the City’s Pedestrian Safety Upgrades for Park Avenue Elementary School.
Orange Mayor Dwayne D. Warren, Esq. said, “As a parent and elected official, I am pleased that NJDOT has recognized our efforts to make Orange streets safe for our children. This award comes on the heels of the city’s most ambitious street repaving projects that will improve over 40 streets and sidewalks. We will continue to partner with the State to make our streets safer and our communities stronger. ”
NJDOT Commissioner Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti said,”The Safe Routes to School grants will provide resources to local communities throughout New Jersey to enhance our sidewalks and crosswalks to allow our children to safely walk or bike to school.”
